Reggie the Lion is a much better mascot than UCL's tatty rag doll. I've seen Reggie proudly displayed on the staircase at the Strand's Entrance Hall.

The rivalry is mainly saved for the sports field now; there's no longer kidnappings, riots, police intervention and arson. Not until I get there anyway...

I love that there's a history between UCL and KCL. Wikipedia have pretty much got it all covered in this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King's_College_London_and_UCL_rivalry#The_RAGs

I reckon UCL students might be slightly jealous of King's recently though. We've acquired the Maughan Library (the old Public Records Office) and have recently got the rights to move into one of the Wings of Somerset House.

UCL have the quad. Neat one. What a way to reignite the old rivalry - a bit of banter about who has the best architecture!

Haha whatevs man! Our mascot is actually a real person who was a leading figure in his day and continues to be mentioned in current papers etc! Better than a scabby old lion any day :P

I'm rather happy that's there's none of those - minorly more serious! - things going on now, ta very much! And I'm not sure I'd advocate you try to start it up again!

UCL really couldn't care less about your 'architecture' by the way - it's what comes out of the uni that counts, not what stays inside! We have 26 libraries - and no need for one that King's own!

Yep, i think they were playing rugby/footy with it (the head)
UCL and KCL have a long & traditional rivalry dating back to the early 19th century. LSE just want to be rivals with someone and there's nowhere else close by.

Wowzers! You seemed really quite affected by that dude's post :s-smilie: It's only banter!

OP: I'm tempted to say it's because Kings > UCL + LSE, however I will be mature about this!
It's mainly the whole mascot-stealing business. Most people aren't too bothered by it, because the LSE and UCL students get hard over being in the top 5, and the KCL students find the education top class, the company amazing, and the campuses are better architecturally than UCL or LSE.
That's not to say that they don't enjoy good company, a nice landscape or good lecturers, however I dare say there are more snobs in UCL and LSE than there are at KCL, which for some can be rather irritating!

EDIT: Seriously though, LSE aren't really involved in the rivalry, I think they just felt left out (however I have heard more LSE students than UCL's refer to King's, one of the oldest universities in the country, as a poly)

Apart from the fact that UCL + LSE girls also have nipples, there's a lot that's not known about them.

Like their penises

Lol!

Wait, did KCL students kick around the original head of Jeremy Bentham? Or was it a wax one at that time? The Wikipedia article isn't clear; it says 'mummified', which suggests it was...

Real one lol
The real one is kept in a vault now and they use a fake one in the showcased model sitting in the museum :p:

you study human sciences i see. its a small class do you know someone called christine?

Yea, it's a tiny class, there are only about 18 of us!
&& as it happens, I do know a girl called Christine :p:
Where do you know her from?
wilson_smith
Because it's not quite as good as them, but good enough for it to be taken in jest. Like someone would belittle his close friend, but not someone dieing in a wheelchair (Thames Valley).

like ucl and lse hate people from kings and call them people from the strand polytech and blamed kings for their missing penguins and trashed kings english dept.

Those bastards stole Reggie the lion from us :frown: But we got him back (although we only keep a copy in the strand)!

I will be a KCL boy myself in september.. And I'm already very proud of it  It's a legacy to be a part of! Is anyone else up for drawing a lion on Bentham's forehead?

Plus my dept. managed to get Somerset house! Tbh, I think it's about time for us to climb up the ranking table above ucl...

King's is elite, but UCL is super elite

harsh, man...:sigh:

Spoiler

lnwn
flatmate =P do you like her? cos im like :s-smilie:

Lol, you think so? She seems really nice to me, we've chatted a couple of times, not that much though *usually because I'm too busy catching up on sleep during lecs :p:*
So are you doing the CYO as well?
lnwn
CYO? yeah, people always seem nice when you don't know them at first but then

Sorry, CYO is the common year one at King's for biomedical science, biochemistry, pharmacology, human sciences, neuroscience, physiology and genetics students. We all study the same modules for the first year *You'd think that with so many people in the year group socialising would be a doddle, but it's quite the opposite!*
It would probably have been easier for me to simply ask you where you study lol!

King's is the fourth oldest/fourth to receive royal charter in the country, whats all this about strand poly?

Have you never heard Oxford referred to as the midlands poly, or Cambridge as the poly on the Fens? It's meiosis.

That is the stupidest analogy ever.
If anything, KCL's mascot is a lion- like chelsea's! So we are being picked on my losers Man U and Liverpool for being better than them

(p.s. Yes, I am a Chelsea supporter and even live there XD)
