M2 June 2011 Edexcel - Paper and Model answers now in the FIRST POST

Revision thread for the M2 June paper.

PAPER AND MODEL ANSWERS NOW IN THIS POST

I will upload some past papers and my model answers

I will also post some tips as they occur to me and answer any questions

Good luck in the exam

I do not have access to the exam paper before the actual exam

Good site for past papers

http://www.freeexampapers.com/past_papers.php?l=Past_Papers%2FA+Level%2FMaths%2FEdexcel%2F

I will be happy to remove any content I have uploaded if requested by site admin

Edit - there is a slight transcription error in the method for 8c, it should be /1.40... not /1.80.. I did use 1.40 in the actual calculation, so the answer is correct.

Perfect. This is just the kind of thread that I, and I'd imagine many others, need.

Model Answers...

These are my solutions in pdf form. If you can not open the files you need to update your adobe reader, simply go to the Adobe site to do this, you will need at least version 9 to read the files.

June 06 is a good paper to try if you fancy a challenge.

First tip is to remember to give all final answers to 3sf. If you give solutions involving g to more than 3sf you may be deducted an accuracy mark.

Some older papers

EDIT - Mock and Specimen papers attached

Initial KE + Initial PE + Energy Created - Energy lost = final KE + Final PE

remember you can take one PE to be zero.

energy created in M2 is work done by engine force = force x distance travelled

energy lost is normally work done against friction/resistance = friction/resistance x distance travelled.

engine force = power/velocity

Sub'd,

hey Arsey and thanks.
I love you Arsey! I feel so much more confident with M2 now, I love the way you draw your diagrams so well, and that seems to be the most challenging aspect of a question
Wow you're absolutely incredible Arsey! Universities tend to strongly prefer Mechanics modules, so this thread is tremendously helpful indeed.
