Ok this pc at school is so slow so i cant find the person who wrote the mark scheme thing.
But for the labelling of the organelles I put plasma membrane not cell surface membrane.
This may sound dumb.. but is that the same thing :s-smilie: :s-smilie:

yup same thing

I thought it was so much harder! I did Jan 12 as a mock and found it ok, but this was evil! A lot of the questions were application questions, so I think the grade boundaries may be lower? I really hope so! But don't worry, we have F212 next week, and that's worth 50% so if we do well on that, we should be ok  What did you get in Jan, if you don't mind me asking?

Me too! I literally repeated everything I said for those questions! I said they should add a drop of concentrated solution eg. Glucose...I think it's wrong.

I felt like I was writing the same points each time :frown:
I got a B in the last sitting, but for medicine I really need an A :/

Yes good luck to you and all others sitting in next week, maybe they'll give us a nice paper after this week *hopes*

How???? Both were in the table.

Because I'm an idiot

Tissue------Function---------------------Eg
Squam.---provide short diff. dist.-----I put bronchiole; should have been alveolus
Ciliat.-----waft mucus-------------------trachea

Stupid
1. mitosis (1mark)
why is dna replicated before mitosis (2mark)
homologous pair of chromosomes (3mark)
function and location of squamous and ciliated epithelium
what is a tissue (2)

2. name B, D, F
extracelluar protein or so
active process of moving the extracelluar protein
function of golgi app (2 mark)
2 function in the pic which would not be in prokaroytic cells (2marK)
1 feature of prokaryotic which is not present in eukaroytes(1 mark)

3. tidal volume (1 mark)

B-C (4 marks) exhalation

60/5= 12

why is not all the air expelled? (2 marks)

tick the box to show which caterogy the human system falls in - it was closed and double circulatory system ( the bottom box on the right)

4.the one about plant cell in water (5 marks)
what could the student do to see the RBC without it bursting (1mark)

5.
the heart rate -beats per minute

lots on the heart and stuff cant remember atm

describe the change in pressure (3marks)

6. sugar transported:sucrose (1mark
tissue which transports them: phloem (1mark)
how are sugars actively transported into phloem? (3 mark)
Original post by Axion
Corrrrrrrrrrrrect. Although you could have said about stretched elastic fibres recoil, but you would have already got full marks

Ahh damn, I was going to say that but I didn't, because I thought they wanted us to specifically talk about why it increased and then decreased. All I said was the person inhaled and then exhaled. 4 easy marks :frown:

I said ciliated can be found on goblet cells is that right?

What was the one about the label on that graph, was it tidal volume or vital capacity? because it had the arrow on the longest part of the stroke so i assumed it was vital capacity?

tidal volume. Vital capacity would be a huge movement

nawh. Goblet cells don't have cilia.

oh okay thanks  There goes another one marker. Really needed a high A in this paper too :frown:

Me too! I needed an A for Medicine, but I guess I'm taking a gap year and then applying. Good luck to you too! Hopefully coursework should help as well. I think I genuinely got an E or U, so Jan retake, here I come!

WHAT KIND OF ****ERY WAS THIS EXAM? so upset!

i dont know the order so im guessing we could help aisha with it.
what example of extracellular protein?
what is visible on the cell diagram that is not present in prokaryotes?
what extra feature is present in the cytoplasm of prokaryotes?
Breath calculation
What is another name for flunctions in blood?
How does oxygen get into red blood cells?
What happens to elastic fibres in AB?
What is process requires atp? (exocytosis)
What nuclear division (first q was mitosis)
What is a tissue
Define homologous chromosomes
Tick box- with the mammalian system
Last q- Sucrose and the mouthpiece dunno the question
Describe the pressure changes using the graph.
Explain the pressure changes using the graph.
Why is it important to have low pressure in capillaries.
What is shown by the letter on the graph (was tidal volume)
Why is there residual volume in lungs
Suggest how student can stop red blood cells from bursting.
5 mark q about plant and animal cells in water
Expiration question
Name process used by root hair cells and their structure.
Transport of sucrose into phloem (H+ stuff)
Why is it important for dna to replicate
What are A B C (dunno the actual letters) shown on the diagram
Function of golgi apparatus
Funtion and location of squamous and cilia cells
What type of tissue transports sugars? phloem
What sugar is transported? Sucrose

Those are all the questions from memory sorry i just dont remember the phrasing!!

im not so good at remembering things for exams but when it comes to the questions i dunno why i remember what they are!! loll
For all of you who are feeling down about this exam, whats done is done, and please focus on the rest, you never know you may actually just be doubting yourself and if you find out youve spent time and let your other exams suffer you'll only be more annoyed with yourself. F212 is worth more marks, so work on that, and in the worst case scenerio you have to retake. Atleast by next year, AS shall hopefully look like a doss!
if anything we have enough time to get into unit 2 and we can start testing each other on this thread or a new one on what will come up

Aha! Awesome, thats kind of like me, whereas I only remember the questions that I genuinely didn't know the answers to xD

What did people get for why the pressure had to change or something from the aorta to the capillaries? I put because the artery can withstand the high pressures but the aorta cannot?

Thank you for the reassurance! Even though I know I got a U, at least I can retake
