I'm planning to apply for Politics/Economics/Philosophy courses next year but I haven't done Maths A level. I know there are some courses where it's a definite requirement, but at places like York where it's "highly recommended", is there any point applying? Did anyone get a place at anywhere like this without Maths? It's not that I'm bad at Maths (A* at GCSE), I just don't like studying it for it's own sake. Any advice gratefully received.

I didn't do Maths for A-Level (although I must say i regret it...), and it will weaken your application a bit, but I have been offered a place at York for a course where maths is "highly recommended." So yes, there is definitely a point in applying as long as you are reasonably proficient - and an A* at GCSE would suggest you are!

Just received an offer from York for Phil/Pol, also got offers from Soton and Essex. Still waiting on York PPE though
