Everyone keeps saying I could apply for medicine (I would be applying 2014). I have thought about it but I don't think I'm near smart enough nor do I have any work experience so I probably wouldn't get in and I don't want to build up and get rejected by all.

I know medicine is a very popular choice on tsr but to anyone who has actually started/sat the course, would you recommend it? or even just applying?

Unfortunately no one on this thread has started the course. All I can say is try, jump at the opportunity for any volunteer work or people based care work experience and get those results!

I was probably thinking Queen Margarets, maybe Murano or Cairncross? I know Queen Margarets is the place where most people want to go, so its relatively unlikely you'll get a room there... And I know Murano is known to be the 'social' halls where all the parties happen, but I've also heard its not that nice inside, and its quite far away from anything, so I'm not really too sure yet... so excited though!

Hey everyone!
I have an unconditional. I am almost certain I'll be firming Glasgow

Yes, if I firm I was thinking QM as I'd really like an ensuite, also I think Murano has a reputation for being quite wild and in Cairncross there's a high possibility of having to share a room. :s-smilie: Does anyone else think Glasgow University has very limited self-catering ensuite rooms for ungraduates compared to many other universities? Also has anyone heard much about the UNITE accommodation?

Must say i've just been looking through the accommodation list and am shocked at the cost of halls - £5,000 p.a!

I just wish I knew you lot a little better and could do a house share. It's so so much cheaper. The house I share with my 4 mates atm is only costing us £240 p.m. with all bills inc. and is amazing! But, alas it's in Liverpool :frown:

Defiantly gonna firm. But i'm too intrigued to find out the outcomes of my other 2 interviews to simply withdraw them atm, especially as i said 'Boob job' in one of them. I would be so shocked if I got an offer after that :wink2:

Haha I would love to know how that came about? Where else are you waiting to hear from? I still have 2 more interviews to go to and am considering firming Glasgow and sacking them off... but it feels weird to have waited to hear from them for so long, then not go to them!

Still waiting to hear the outcomes from Durham and Newcastle interviews.

I suppose it depends if Glasgow is your first choice or not. If it is i guess it's a little pointless going to other interviews if you know your going to firm your Glasgow offer.

Congrats again btw

I agree, QM definitely top choice for me! Yeah I think so too. I looked into it a little, there are one or two UNITE halls pretty close to the uni, but they are also pretty expensive (I think the cheapest is £114 a week). The student flats right by the uni are also another option, but I think I would rather stay in halls for first year to get the full experience- I also think that halls could potentially be more sociable.

Wow, that's a huge difference! Do you know how Glasgow allocate accommodation? For example do those with unconditional offers get any preference? (Wishful thinking )

Not, sure entirely. But previous halls experience tells me that it's basically a first come first serve.

Yeah though considering QM is around £127 a week they're not too bad. I agree, I do think halls in the first year would be good for getting to know people and socialising (though I don't think I'd fancy the amount of socialising that I hear goes on in murano) haha.

I'm not sure about this year but according to http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki/Medical_School_Competition_Ratios last year there were 228 places and 405 offers given out.

I got a conditional offer on Wednesday night!

I didn't think the interview went that well actually so it was unexpected.
