How is it Done?

Most of the time you have to submit electronic copies which go through a programme designed to detect plagiarism. Aside from the markers can compare students work if they notice overt similarities, and as most are aware of the literature they can see if you are just ripping off an idea as your own without proper citations and referencing.

Also if you are a complete oxygen thief for most of the semester, and then you suddenly turn into Stephen Hawking for a piece of marked coursework.

There is a database called Turnitin that are used by most universities these days.

Most instructors, this wouldn't be their first time teaching a module and they generally do keep up on their reading thus chances are everything out there they had heard it before.

Finally most instructors can detect from your sentence structures whether or not something is originally by you or by someone else. Am told now a lot of these are done electronically as well.
