A2 aqa media exam!

Has anyone else sat this exam- 10th June 2014?
If so how do you think it went? What did you write for section A?
Personally I think it all went downhill as soon as I opened the paper- my peers agree! Please fellow media student reply before I have a melt down!!x

I found Section A horrendous - how are we meant to be aware of media products that use no advertising or funding? I referred to Wikipedia as that is all I could think of although my point wasn't very strong.
Section A was awful! I couldn't think of anything to question 3!
Worst exam paper! I felt that alll previous papers were so much better than this one ! :frown:
Section a was awful, couldn't name any other media products by name, I just said that other products also did this or that, can't remember what I wrote -_-

Section b was a godsend though I think, might've saved my paper :')
Section A was horrible- didn't know how to talk about the website, the clip was ridiculous as neither gave enough to talk about media language as couldn't really talk about lighting, camera angles, or narrative!!! The second question on new media went quite well but question 3 I wrote like 2 lines and it made no sense I know nothing about government funding. In class we have being doing representation for the 8 mark question so expected that!!! However section B went well and question 05 was a nice question and ideology! Please tell me no one thought section A went well!!??
It is so frustrating because section A completely threw me off section B which consequently made me do so much worst.
I just generally hated the whole exam and I am not hopeful in the slightest. Biggest disappointment of the year :-(

The only thing I could talk about for the media language section a question for the moving image text was the woman's voice over being British and showing that it's a globally relevant issue because it was happening in Egypt so is likely to be believable, and then I talked about how the camera angles positioned the audience as on the side of te people because they were all on the same level which is bull**** anyway haha :/ and then the last point I did for the moving image text was something about them choosing to use clips which showed the marchers' aggression and passion and how that showed it as being authoritative, not sure if it really was but I couldn't think of anything to say!
-_- the most abysmal section a questions I have ever seen

I'm getting the gist that no one liked section A- thank the Lord so they maybe more lenient! I thought if the questions asked about institutions rather than the audiences it may have been slightly easier! What did you write for question 2, in section A?!

SAME OVER HERE! I spent so long trying to work out what the frig I was writing I realised I had 30 minutes to bang out a section B answer- managed to throw down 5 pages... Whether or not I answered the question right or not is a different story!
God knows, that was probably my worst one :/ actually it might be been the third that was my worst :/ but I think I wrote about how the women organised the march on twitter and facebook, except I don't know if they actually did because the woman speaking went a bit quick and I kept missing the first part of her sentence :/ and then I said that people do it on YouTube and then mentioned the student riots for Facebook and twitter and bbm and stuff like how they organised it, not sure how that links to audiences but I couldn't think of anything else
What did anyone else do for their case study? Mine was streaming services

It's such such a shame as a did a past paper and got an A and I think I've failed!! Such horrid questions. For question 2 I talked about prosumers, YouTube-justin bieber, globalisation, Facebook-Jamie's world, convergence, twitter, uploading, downloading and sharing, wiki where you can contribute views, familiar participant where you can tweet text in to shows like X factor and this morning programmes to spread views and opinions! New technology On one device so can film, upload and share on the same device, however it doesn't allow everyone to have the same chance as you have to be 13 to have Facebook, 18 for porn, you can't alter all wiki definitions, some content can be removed from YouTube, paedophila, um I don't know what else, did abit about banning on Facebook for uploaded certain content - hope the examiner is nice

I am envious of your 5 pages! I managed a puny 2 pages. Not impressed in the slightest!

See your section a sounds really good bahah :') I'm just glad that section b is worth 48 marks and section a is worth only 32. I feel like I had a strong band 4 answer for section b, did the one on whether the case study shows that N/DM is a threat or an opportunity to producers, i did a debate style essay, first I talked about how YouTube is a forum for amateur film makers and media producers to publish their products to a massive global audience (globalisation and democratisation) which subtracts hegemonic dominance from commercial producers, then I talked about how Spotify is an economic threat to the music industry because the artists revenue is next to nothing and people will choose to stream the music instead of buying it (immediacy), but then I talked about how on Netflix, being able to stream programmes to a global audience instead of limiting it to terrestrial television provides producers with the opportunity to increase their viewership and popularity, and then talked about how Netflix contributed to breaking bad overtaking The Wire as the highest rated tv show of all time. Then i did a paragraph on YouTube again and SoundCloud, and talked about how Justin bieber is just one example of talent scouting = massive money for producers, plus the promotional opportunity and talked about lady gaga's bad romance video establishing YouTube as a prominent forum for promotion, and then mentioned how it's become a cultural norm for producers to follow the same pattern and talked about PSY being the first to pass 1 billion, and then my last paragraph (I think) was one on BBC iplayer and how it raises popularity and viewership when audiences can organise viewing schedules around themselves, and talked about how many people watched the doctor who 50th anniversary on iplayer. Have to say, I was rather proud of that one, hope it's enough to save my appalling section a question, where I included bugger all theory and wider textual references :'(

Does anyone know of anyone who thinks the exam went well? I really hope they bring the grade boundaries down as I feel so gutted and angry with aqa
Not that I know of - it was an uncharacteristically hard pair of texts, I'd be surprised if they didn't lower the boundaries to be honest :/
What have your teachers said about it?
