    Hi everyone,

I received my IB marks recently (37) and I missed LSE by one point, however I attained the 667 in HL they asked for. They emailed me saying they would let me know if I could be accepted after A-level results day.

I was planning on studying History, and I wondered if anyone had any experience with marginally missing their LSE offer?

My insurance choice is Kings which I have gotten into, however LSE does have better graduate prospects and I had accommodation and other issues sorted.

I am hoping that since I am studying History it is not as over-subscribed as say economics... and a point has less significance than a grade at A-level...

Please give me some info if you have been in a similar situation or know someone who has been!

    Thanks,
    Maddy x

We're in the opposite situation.... I'm not sure what they value more points or certain subjects they wanted? Hoping we both get in haha!

Well I have also missed my offer. I got in my mathematics paper 84% and I had to get 85%. The rest of my conditions are fulfilled.
I was applying for Management. Does anybody know if it is as oversubscribed as Economics?

    Hey,

I was in a similar situation.

I missed my conditional offer which specified 5s on the American AP exams in French, Calculus AB, and World History. I got 5s on French and Calc, but a 4 in World History. I first called the admissions office explaining my situation. The admissions officer asked me to email the American admissions specialist. I emailed explaining my situation and asked if my 5 in European History could be used instead of my AP in World History. They said sure.

They were pretty chill about the whole thing.

I hope things work out okay for you.

Good to hear that they let you in ! Still I have nothing "in exchange" to offer. Hope that they still would be able to confirm my place

I'm hoping we all get in... I'm so annoyed at my grades! I was hoping someone would come onto this thread who had been in the same position and got accepted!

hey out of interested was your kings college offer the same as your LSE one? I'm worried I missed my offer of A*AA to read law (by one grade) of both Kings and LSE If your offers were the same, like mine were, I hope that I will be at least accepted into kings!

Why did you have an insurance with the same grades as your firm?

I know someone who just missed an A in Mathematics but had A* in the other 2 subjects and was offered a place. I think it depends on the available places so good luck.

The same thing applies for me! I missed my offer by 1% and still got in! On Wednesday I received the email that they could take me in, I am so happy right now. Good luck everybody, it is possible to get in after marginally missing your offer!

They did not give me any reason. I was quite surprised when I saw the email but now I am so so so so so excited and happy to study at LSE. I wish you all the best and hope that we would be able to meet in September

It will depend on how many places are filled by people meeting their conditions, which can vary fairly wildly year on year. Only if enough people miss their offers that spaces open up on the course will they start looking at who they want to take out of the "pool" of those who narrowly missed their offers.
I have no idea how IB measures up against A-Levels, but the problem you may face is that it's not uncommon for folk applying to places like LSE to do 4 A-Levels - so even if they missed their offer by a grade, they may have a whole other A-Level to their name (if their offer was A*AA and they got AAAA or AAAB or something), which might give them an advantage despite the point at IB not mattering as much as the grade at A-Level. In the end, how the uni judges the value of different systems and such is up to them.
In other words, your situation isn't hopeless, but there is absolutely no way of predicting the "chances" of you getting accepted anyway at the moment. I wish you the best of luck, though!
