Is it possible to claim compensation for this issue? Please read

If someone leaves an old paraffin lamp burning in their garden shed and it was windy and the subsequent draught caused flames to leak out of the lamp and ignites some wood shavings. The fire then spread very quickly and soon the whole shed was alight. This fire then combined with another fire, whose source was unknown, and this strong combination of flames threatened Betty’s house which was 300 metres away from the shed. And Betty’s house was subsequently destroyed by the fire ball.

How would the court tackle this issue? Is it safe to consider the "but-for" test because of the other fire from the unknown source?

Thanks
