Are there any students studying the above degrees here? If so, are you enjoying them?

What is the Stockon campus like?

Im in year 2 business..

and say im only so-so about the campus and the uni.

Certain aspects are great, but others are awful.

such as..the Economics module on the course are challenging, but well structured and interesting.

Yet as a contrast, some of the other modules (such as management, operations management, information systems etc) are an utter joke, the lectures literally spend an hour describing what the word project means. Those modules are a complete waste of human life!

The business courses here (Business, Business Finance, and Accounting) all do the same first year of modules, and you can swap between the degrees at the end of year one.

the business courses here are a lot more finance based than other university's (perhaps why i find the economics modules much better arranged than the others, as its the universities priority)

The first year has a decent mix of study, you do Quantitive Methods, Management, Economics, Finance, Accounting and IT/SRM (which is easy stuff such as how to use Microsoft Word, and how to produce good group presentations).

so id say it depends on what kind of degree you want to do. Personally my specialism is more towards the marketing and management sides of the course, but as ive said..i find these modules poor.

so id say only choose here if your more interested in the finance part of the course.

As for the campus, its nice...the halls are nice, and the facilities are great. Also the nightlight is good and cheap.

But Stockton is possibly the most depressing place ive ever been too, its really started to grate on me over the last few months. Ive defended it on TSR loads in the past, but the concoction of chavs, uneducated ***wits, prostitutes, the filthy pavements, awful traffic junctions and the permanently grim weather really get annoying after a year.

so in summary...id say give it considering, have a look round, ask others opinions, but really choose carefully..as to be honest i should have picked somewhere else and now regret my decision (as ive said, that maybe isnt Durham's fault, i think i need a less finance orientated course)
Also the nightlight is good and cheap.

The course is really interesting but Quantitative Methods was a big jump for me as I hadn't done AS Level Maths whereas everyone who has done maths finds it dead easy.

i got a C at GSCE maths, and i too found it incredibly difficult...as they just expect you to know all the A level maths stuff.
