That's awful!
I don't think it should matter because they don't start sorting people until we get our results!

I'm pretty sure applications are read by like first come first serve basis, for example if you did it 20 minutes before me yours would be read first. I could be wrong though, luckily though i'm not super late because didn't it only open on the 1st of this month? Hopefully not to many people have applied :frown: One thing that puts me at an advantage i guess that all my options are the expensive ones which i would assume many people couldn't go for because of the price. Which accommodation did you apply for and in what order?

From what I've heard the expensive ones are the most over demanded. And they can't give people their accommodation until we get out results because we may not get it.
I applied for lewes 1. Then lewes 2 and I think brightlem(which I can't spell).
I really want lewes 1 because it has a good sized kitchen and only between 6 and a decent cost. And I really don't want an en suit!!!

I got the email about accommodation early March but maybe that's just because I have an unconditional offer?

Nah, they've specifically said its not on a first come first served basis, it's random, but I think with priority to those who meet their grades.

Why wouldn't you want an en suite?😳😳 I'm not the most hygienic person in the world but I just couldn't imagine sitting down to a warm toilet seat😷😷

Tbh if you can survive a warm seat once in a while its going to make it easier to find somewhere else after the first year is up!
Plus, if you're that desperate for the toilet...

I was exactly like you until I visited my friend at uni, and i promise you shared bathroom accommodation is just so much more social. So really it's up to
whether you value hygiene and privacy over the social side of things. But tbh, hygiene isn't a problem I'm pretty sure cleaners come in like every other day.

I don't want an en suit because it's a complete waste of money and as someone who's has spent several different weeks camping with around 5,000 people with maybe 25 toilets... I really don't feel the need to my own toilet....

Been to festivals, hostels and I can safely say that I do not value sitting in someone else piss or having whiskers left in the sink nice at all, on top of that there must be some waiting going on sometimes 😬😳 Curious how would it limited socialising, surely you're not going to be having a showe whilst your flat mate it popping one out 😯😯

Hahahaha! Remember that it isn't going to be a very public sort of toilet is it? It's going to look more like the toilet you use with your family. I hope. Otherwise I've made a huge mistake applying for brighthelm D:

Well I don't know why all 6 people are going to need the toilet at once... Plus is it really so hard to wait a minute if there isn't one free. And the showers in a different room to the toilet...
And the toilets are cleaned once a week...

Haha no I agree that it's no more social! But still don't think it's worth like £40 a week for your own toilet!

I'm a gap year student with an unconditional and I'm pretty sure I read that I hear what accommodation I've been allocated in July. This makes me think maybe its on a first come first serve basis for people with conditionals after results day (as in they look at them in chronological order) but the unconditional applications are handled first before results day?

I also read (possibly on tsr though or a student news article, not sure how reliable that is) that Brighthelm are the most over subscribed halls but most gap year students end up there - which could either be a coincidence or suggest what I said above!

Whilst £40 is quite steep i'd still rather pay it! What were you planning on studying?
Random question but as we all have offers but might not be studying the same things, has anyone thought about what societies they might be joining in Sept?
Might have some common interests come freshers!

I'm so annoyed! I Emailed a women from sussex housing about when the applications start because i hadn't yet applied and she said to me it was may, that the applications will open. And now weeks later iv'e received an Email saying i urgently need to complete the housing application. I'll be so annoyed if i end up at like my 4th choice :frown:

I'm guessing you have already firmed? The email went out around beginning of March to people who have already firmed their offer and it was live when they sent it out pretty much.
However given what you have said its likely that you should get a decent choice. (Only unconditional and IB students are likely to get their first choice for the popular blocks)
Anyone going to the applicant day tomorrow and doing business and management?

This is a good question. I'm thinking of American football and volleyball mainly, maybe even a anime/manga society. But tbh, once I get there and discover all the abstract societies out there i definitely think I'll have a gander.
