Help science question!!

Describe briefly how you would carry out a preliminary investigation to find a suitable value to use for this variable?
My variable is the amount of copper chloride.
My hypothesis is : "The temperature rise when a metal reacts with a solution of copper chloride varies with the reactivity of the metal".

Can some one help me and tell me how i should answer this question? xx
