Law exam question, please help

“How doe we reconcile the fact that it is neither immoral nor illegal for adults to drink alcohol with the fact that voluntary intoxication attracts criminal liability?”

please help, any ideas guys?
i'd draw on the idea of personal responsibility and autonomy - it is okay to drink , but if your intoxication affects others then you're held liable. this draws a balance between personal responsibility in society (i.e. towards others) and autonomy (i.e. in choosing to get drunk)
