this website format has remained surprisingly similar over past 4 years.

I get the sense the number of active posters has gone down but could just be observation bias

I know I'm replying in an old thread but I've been looking at really old threads recently out of curiosity, how come many are removed. And how come the user profiles don't work for users in these old theads. The oldest users I can see are from 2003, bit the oldest threads I've found are from 2001.

Not sure about the user profiles.

Old treads are removed for a variety of reasons. Especially if the site rules got updated and are therefore no longer in keeping with that.

That kinda sucks (from a historical point of view 😂). If site rules are updated they shouldn't apply to a 20 year old closed thread. Thats like banning an old film for not adhering to modern values. Sure, new threads should follow the rules, but why not just lock the old threads.

Sorry for that mini rant 😂. I'm just a bit too passionate about internet history lol.
