Deferring my course

I am in the process of deferring my course and wanted to know if anyone else had been in the same situation or had some advice.

I'm doing my PGDE right now, but due to mental health issues and a period of physical health issues I fell behind in the course. I recently got offered a job in my specialism and so decided to defer to take the job, hoping that the change will help my health.

I have informed my course tutor and course leader, who support the decision and am waiting for the paperwork to be sent to me so I can make it final.

What I wanted to ask was about funding. Firstly due to losing my job at the beginning of the year I was awarded a small grant from the hardship fund. Would I need to pay that back? I am still technically a student and have medical evidence for the deferment.

Secondly, due to gaps in my pay for starting this new job, not receiving my SAAS and Student Loan in March is going to make things difficult financially. I know of course it is my duty to notify them straight away once the decision is final with the university, but wondered does the funding stop straight away? It will take a few weeks to process the deferment but there will probably still be a few weeks after that until the March payment comes through, could I get away with waiting?

I also want to add I have no financial support from anyone else so this is all on me.
