Harder Indices question

Bit surprised by this question... didn't see anything like this in the textbook. Any help is welcome.
Convert all to powers of 2 and use the fact that root = power of half.
Way easier than it looks. Your probably getting confused by the number of scary looking terms. Focus on 8^(y-3). From GCSE we cknow we can rewrite that as 8^y 8^-3. Then rearrange to get 8^y on one side, and use logs.
