Drag is a type of performance that involves exaggerated makeup and fashion, usually performed in character. Drag queens are mostly (but not always) men who take on a feminine persona and perform by showing off exaggerated hair, makeup, fashion etc. accompanied by music. There are drag kings too who perform under masculine personas. My understanding is that it's about pushing the boundaries of gender expression to the extreme, rather than being about cross dressing.
