Can I do work experience in a university lab?

I'min year 10 at the moment, and I'm interested in doing something scientific, so I was just wondering if doing that would be possible.

You'd have to email the lab of interest (preferably the Principal Investigator) to enquire. When I did my summer studentship there was a year 11 student there for a week who did a lot of shadowing. It would depend on the university, the PI and health and safety of said university.

Alternatively, I believe there is the nuffield scheme which allows you to research at a company or at a university via a mini project but I'm not overly sure of details
