Neuroscience Careers

Hi guys, I was hoping for some advice.
I love neuroscience as a subject and find it super fascinating, I'm hoping to study it at uni (starting in 2025).
However, I'm worried about career prospects moving on from my degree, I don't want to do a medicine degree or get a phd after my undergrad and I'm worried that that would really narrow my career prospects. Does anyone know any careers/ jobs that I could get with just an undergrad degree (doesn't have to be directly neuroscience based, just anything slightly related to it)
Thanks

I studied neuroscience at Bsc and MSc level and my first grad job was working for a pharmaceutical company on medical devices. It was related to neuroscience and was very interesting, involved a lot of data collection and analysis. There are lots of jobs in pharma that are both lab based and non lab based. During university you’ll see what you enjoy and I would encourage you to do internships during your summer holidays (doesn’t matter where, just do them. They’ll teach you what you want out of a future career). You could also work for the NHS in research - every NHS trust has a research department, so if you’re interested in that side of science plus working with people, that is also an option, as is the NHS scientist training programme. A BSc is acceptable for both. There are a lot of career paths - scientific journalism, scientific communications and consultancy (look up Costello Medical and similar companies), there’s university based lab research (you’d start out as an assistant), you could work in data or even branch out to other fields like finance/management consulting. There are also unique paths like patent attorneys who are scientific specialists who then work to patent new scientific inventions in their field. My advice would be to attend the careers fairs at uni from first year, network and take on as many work experiences/opportunities as you can. It’s only through experience that you’ll truly understand where you’d like to work and what you’d like to do after uni. And it’s not necessarily what you know or what qualifications you have, it is very much about your experiences and your network! As long as you gain experiences, a BSc can take you far.
