Help with deciding between 4 universities

Hey! I'm Robin, I'm in Malaysia but I have a British passport so I'll be able to study in the UK!

I'm planning on studying ILLUSTRATION, and due to a pretty tight budget, I can't really afford the bigger, better universities (uni of the arts london, edinburgh uni, etc.)

Right now I have 2 offers, and am waiting on the other 3 (although one of them is a wildcard university and I probably won't be picking it haha)

So the 4 universities I'd like more insight on (including accommodation) are:

> Middlesex university (conditional offer)
> UWE Bristol (unconditional offer)
> University of Art Bournemouth
> University for the Creative Arts

I applied to get straight into second year, due to having a diploma already, and have been offered second year placement from the first two.

I'd like to know if anyone has any insight on any of these universities and their art programs. Thanks!

Hi Robin,

Nice to meet you and congratulations on your offers!
I am an international student as well, and I have done my Bachelor here at Middlesex. I really like the atmosphere! People are very welcoming, there is so much to get involved in (from sports, to societies, to jobs and volunteering opportunities).
Illustration has amazing facilities and you will get to have your own workspace.
There is a degree show at the end of the year where you will be able to showcase your work to industry professionals

Matt is our Course Ambassador for Visual Arts and will be able to answer your questions, just sign up here for Unibuddy: https://www.mdx.ac.uk/get-in-touch/meet-us/experience-days/graphic-design

Let me know if I can help you with anything else!
Good luck

i'm wondering what the pros and cons are for choosing a university like middlesex or UWE bristol over a specialised university like UCA or AUB?
that's one of the questions floating in my head really.

i think my top choice would be middlesex or UCA. originally it was AUB but i read some nasty reviews online and it's making me worried, especially since it's the priciest option out of the ones i've picked.

Hi Chocolatula,

I am currently studying at Middlesex and I am loving my time here.
There are loads of societies, sport teams, jobs and volunteering opportunities. It is a very welcoming atmosphere and I really had the best years of my life.
What course are you going to do? I could give you more info and put you in touch with a current student.

The facilities are state-of-the-art and there are very good industry links. Additionally, we are a campus university but we are also close enough to central London, so you can really have both the things at the same time

Hope it helps, let me know if you need any help.

Have a great day

honestly those from middlesex are the only ones who seem interested in answering and students/ta are so friendly about my questions that i'm starting to feel like middlesex really is a lot more welcoming sdjfhjksh

it's so open and easy to find out more about. the other universities don't really... have *as much* to look through like middlesex. middlesex has a whole insta/blog/etc on student works and they're up to date. the fact they're dated and they mention when it's a tutors work or what year the students were in, or if they were graduates helps. it shows me that middlesex really.. cares? i guess.

i don't know but i feel like they'll be my top pick. i'm still waiting on the other universities to decide so i can have a back up one too.
