Applying to sixth form

Hey , to whoever is reading this , i wanted to ask regarding sixth form.
At the moment I'm in year 11 , so ill be off to sixth form in 2020, but im not sure when to start applying.
My school' sixth form is my last option because its crap so just in case i get rejected i'm keeping the option.
I want to go into a few good unis like oxford or Cambridge later on so for that i need good a level results.
So my main question is when should i start applying like month (after or before mock) and how should i do it.
Like based on their results or how the school is??

It’s good to go to apply now and go to as many open days as possible. A lot of the good sixth firms require good grades and possibly an interview. Now is definitely a good time to start applying, because if you don’t all the stress is going to catch up especially with mocks and GCSES coming up.
