Diabetes type 1 returning to university

Hi, I was looking for some help or information. A few years ago I had to unfortunately leave the first year of my university course because of my diabetes type 1. I am hopefully returning and applying for September 2021.
I was wondering if anyone had any info or advice for me, on how things will be effected or support x
Hey, I hope your doing well, when applying to the universities i would definitely ask for the student advice service and see what help they can offer, especially when delaing with health concerns, it can be a scary moment but trust me you got this just make sure your university will provide you with adequate support throughout your studies.

I would look into local specialists for diabetes where you plan on going. Realistically having a good doctor is vital for your management. You may get support from universities but this is rather limited in what they can do. Most staff won't know proper type 1 diabetes management.

If your blood sugar levels are uncontrolled you'll need a good doctor to get you back on track, e.g. More fast acting or slow acting insulin etc.

Get with a dietician, diabetes is horrible for many reasons but the social aspect of university, to just eat to fit in/drink etc.

For example I live with a girl who is doing a bio medical sciences degree and she doesn't understand why I don't eat alot of carbs... Though I'm not a diabetic, my mom died of it and it runs in my family so I really watch what I eat.

Hence also why I'm more aware of your plight than most.
