My friend have received provisional offer. While I was checking the details I found out SC clearance is need for role in HMRC. My friend is already employed by hmrc with basic line clearance. Issue is that she had to leave abroad for 2 year between 2017 to feb 2019 with parents as her dad was sick and past away in late 2018 and she returned to Uk in early 2019. Having sc clearance needed 5 year residency requirements. Or there is a possibility of waver in special circumstances. Before 2017 she was living in Uk . You feed back will be highly appreciated
Does anyone know if the NSVS portal being marked as 'Complete' is a good sign? Does it mean the end is near or is it meaningless?

Complete means they’ve found everything they need to conduct an assessment. If they have any need for further information, they email you and ask. It can take an additional month or longer.

I do want to complain to UKSV that their explanation of complete says that a decision has been made when it really doesn't.
Evening everyone,

I'm starting my new role tomorrow after quite a bit of waiting so I'm very excited :ahee:

I was wondering if people had some opinions on what Union they would look to join (if at all) and if there were any specific civil/public service publications, newsletters, networking groups, forums etc that people were following?

I'd like to get involved with the sector more from a cultural perspective also but think this will be a little harder as a remote employee.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Depends really on your role.

Though PCS have always been great for me over my Civil Service career.

I did leave quite recently as a remote worker I didn't feel I had the support and connections that I would need from a union.

But back in my DWP days I was very well supported from my PCS branch sec and rep.

I believe PCS are acknowledged by all Civil Service depts.

If your a professional or like a specialist/specific role you could join prospect, I've only ever sat at the other side of the table from prospect as a manager and they defend their members well.
Hi all - I had in the last year's recruitments got into DWP through the DAS scehme as an HEO.
I do love the civil service and the department to bits - the policies, values, and the people are all fantastic. I guess what I'm asking here is, is anyone finding the roles to be challenging as well?

Just reaching out to people - our heads may often have us thinking that it is just us while I know many others may be feeling like myself here (if any are here). So thought I'd reach out hear other people's story to clear the brains out that I'm not the only one!

Thanks,
N.

Hi  I was also contacted by the DWP following the return of my EOI! Everything alright?

Hey! It has been a while.
One year on in my current role. How is it going for you?
Hi,

I’ve just recently got rejected and was scored 8.95.

Might be a reach, but any chance I could still get offered a HEO position with that score?

1. The DAS goes from the top and bottom simultaneously. HEO and EO are two different recruitment streams, so EO start at the bottom and HEO start from the top and send EOI’s until they meet in the middle. This is why people with lose AC scores may get a form before you. Do not panic.

2. The DAS only allocate you a department, it is then the departments responsibility to get in contact with you.

3. Departments do not receive your AC score, so they are only aware of the details on your EOI Form. You are not matched to roles in order of score on your EOI.

4. The DAS do not seem to recruit based on experience. I have project management experience and neither of my allocated roles were for project jobs. I saw posts on the forum about people getting project jobs with no experience. My favourite one was that someone was complaining about the lack of experience they had for a Fisheries policy role, and someone replied saying they hadn’t been matched yet despite having a degree in marine biology.

5. Some people’s processes may be faster than yours. The speed at which you are hired is completely down to the department. Most are generally slow so don’t get disheartened if other people are being hired faster than you.

If anyone has any questions about the scheme I’d be more than happy to answer

Hi. Thank you for the informative post. I had 8.89 in my FSAC for S&E this week. Do you think I have the chance of getting into DAS? Thanks.
