what gas is given off when dilute nitric acid and silver bromide reacts
When nitric acid and silver bromide react I believe it results in the formation of silver nitrate and bromine. Bromine is a gas, so I believe it is.

I AM NOT SURE however. I guess I would like to know as well. Soz if this was no help.

The Br- is oxidised to Br2.

The HNO3 acts as an oxidising agent in this reaction and so it becomes reduced itself to NO2 which is a brown gas.

How do you know that the nitric acid is the oxidising agent.
