I did my computer science A-level in 2019. We had a large piece of course work that took up most of year 13 as well as 2 exams during exam season.
There are two papers: one is programming-based, and the other is more theory-related.

The first paper covers one part of the unit and you get to type your answers into an Electronic Answer Document. You also have a piece of "skeleton code", which is made by the exam board but with some slight adjustments needed, and you'll be asked questions about it.

The second paper doesn't use the computer and is more theory-based, with more wordy answers needed.

You'll also get the slightly hellish CS coursework, which is a full computer science project, taking it from concept to product, and pitching to stakeholders. 80% of the grade is based on exam performance and 20% for the coursework (the maximum that coursework can be worth in A Level).
