English Language A Level Descriptive Writing Help!!

Hello, I'm currently studying English Language A Level with the WJEC exam board. We've been told the creative re-casting section of our unit 4 (spoken language) exam will be descriptive writing. My teacher has been getting us to do practice exam questions as homework, but I'm always told that I'm not engaging enough with the audience. The audience 90% of the time is young adults, which is frustrating because it means I can't go into the detail I want to as it's "not engaging enough" for the audience. Does anyone have any tips when it comes to engaging the audience in descriptive writing, particularly young adults? Thanks :smile:
