University vs Apprenticeship

Hi,

I’m conflicted whether or not I should go university (traditional route) or apprenticeship route. I feel like apprenticeship is more practical especially for the field I want to go into (business management). However, I’m struggling to get into one due to the competitiveness. I don’t know if I should take a gap year. Any response is appreciated.

Why don’t you apply to both? Having both options at your disposal. Granted Apprenticeships are hard to get into but there is honestly no harm in trying. The gap year sounds like a great option as most of the more popular apprenticeships have closed and will open up year end. Not to say you won’t find a few that might meet the criteria you currently have in mind. Honestly it’s up to you and what you’ll be comfortable with. I’d say go for if you can apply for an apprenticeship but if you don’t find one you’ll always have Uni to fall back on.
