Any method as long as it’s mathematically valid will get you full marks. It doesn’t matter if it’s on or off spec and this has always been the case.
But questions are designed so that on spec methods are nearly always the most efficient ways to do questions so that students who know other methods don’t have an advantage. So only use an off spec method if you’re sure it’s best.
