Polymer q

What did ppl say for polyethene one - i said the many strong covalent bonds between the monomers in polyethene require a great deal of energy to overcome and so they have high boiling points and are therefore solid and room temp. Methane - just said weak intermolecular forces between methane molecules which dont require much energy to overcome and so the boiling point is low meaning it is a gas at room temperature.
i mentioned that polyethene has lots of intermolecular forces of attraction making it very strong and making it have a high boiling/melting point. I said its a giant covalent structure and needs a large amount of energy to break bonds. and the opposite for methane
