Hi! I'm Kitty and I recently applied for Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at UCLan  I'm really anxious to hear back about an interview but I've been told I'd likely hear back in December so I'll just have to wait hahaha. I understand it's different from Vet Med, but what was a typical week like in first year? Was it full days every day of the week? What areas do you recommend for socialising and studying? Do you use Canvas for online things? Thanks!

Hi Kitty!

The first week is welcome week so this is a great opportunity for you to meet your lecturers, your course mates and get to know the university more! It is a bit more relaxed than your normal weeks will be!

For socialising and studying, we have our student centre which is great if you want to sit down with your friends for a coffee but we also have our 24/7 library as well!

We currently use blackboard for online things!

I hope this helps,

Rebecca - 4th Year

hello! I am an international student applying to UCLan for 2024 entry medicine. i will be applying from the private portal and there is a limit of 20,000 characters for the personal statement. Is it necessary for me to write the complete 20,000 characters or is less than that is okay and if it is then what is the minimum character count required for it? one more query, when is the international medicine deadline? thank you so much!!

Hi, I applied to medicine as a home student. I would just like to know when will we get the transferable skills statement for this year and the weighting of UCAT, GCSEs, A-levels and the transferable skills statement for the selection for an interview. Thanks!

Hi there @Mell111,

Thank you for your message, it's great to hear that you have applied to study MBBS Medicine & Surgery here at UCLan. 😊

For this course, UK applicants for 2024 entry onwards are required to sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) before applying. Your UCAT score will be used as part of the selection process prior to interview.

In terms of your question above, here in the social media team don't have access to information around the weighting of UCAT. But you could contact our friendly Admissions team with your questions and they can help support you. You can contact the team by emailing [email protected].

All the best, 😊
Sarah
