Hi,

Can the students just arrive anytime on the Sunday or will they be given a moving in time slot in a couple of weeks or so?

Is parking available close to the Uni Halls to drop off?

Will their be any Welcome Week or Freshers Week activities at any point on the Sunday or will this not start until the Monday?

When will students receive their timetables please?

Thanks

I've already got my timetable, idk much about freshers tho. There seems to be some info on the student union website but idk if buying tickets would be worth it.

I haven’t received. timetable yet, or a move in slot I have only booked accommodation.

But I only found out I had a place from UCAS and then had to phone the Clearing helpline to be given my registration number. Have heard nothing about a moving in slot yet.

Hey,

Usually students will be provided with a time slot - I would recommend emailing [email protected] to confirm when this is and please check any junk mail folders in case you may have missed it

There will be parking available close to all halls for dropping off and usually there are large trolleys etc that you can use so that you don't have to carry everything which we know can be tiring! There will be lots of staff and student ambassadors around to help too. You might find this photo album a helpful insight into what you can expect from move-in day:

Timetables are beginning to be issued so you should hopefully receive access soon if you haven't already - have you tried logging into MyUCLan at all? Here's a useful couple of links too:

Welcome FAQ's

Freshers activities will start from 22 September and a full list of events can be found on our SU's website.

Hope this helps and we look forward to seeing you very soon!

Just wondering how long it normally takes UCLan to responded with accomodation offers in the 'allocation' part of process?

Sept 25 private accommodation - 1 month rent and deposits paid. Is anyone looking for 2nd or 3rd year accommodation. My daughter is signed up for a two bedroom apartment a short walk from campus and her housemate’s circumstances have changed and she won’t be in Preston from September now. We’ll be happy to transfer the deposit and pay a months rent to help and it’s better than her having to fund the full year. My daughter is fun but not a huge party goer or drinker, she attends the local church and will be a 2nd year chemistry student in Sept.

Hi @Littleangels3,

I'm sorry to hear this. Has your daughter joined any of our community Facebook groups in the past? She could post within those to see if anyone is interested. She can join her course group for 2025 here: Social campus

Hope this helps, ^Zac

Top tips for living with other people at uni

1. Move in early
Moving in before your flatmates means that you can get all your items in comfortably, instead of all struggling to carry boxes in at the same time. It also means you can pick your space in the kitchen first. However, try and be considerate.

2. Be friendly
I know it can be daunting meeting new people and sharing spaces with them does not make it any easier. One thing for sure is that every flatmate is feeling the same. Be the first to introduce yourself and be friendly.

3. Create a group chat
Creating a WhatsApp group chat seems to be best. This helps with communication, especially if you want to pass on messages to your flatmates.

4. Take initiative
If you like structure, suggest to your flatmates that you to create a rota to help with chores. For example, I came up with a rota where someone takes the bins out every Sunday. This way, everyone will do their fair share.

5. Be considerate
Once you have started to live with your flatmates, you will roughly know what time everyone cooks. Most shared kitchen can only accommodate two people cooking at the same time. Most people will just wait for the first person to finish so they can comfortably cook.
