A level choices

Does anyone recommend taking physics maths and chemistry together for A level? I’m not sure if I want to do dentistry or engineering

If you enjoy the subjects and can excel in them, go for it.

Maths is the best, physics is apparently really hard. Chemistry is good too but maths is better. Chemistry is a big step up from GCSE so prepare to suck for a bit lol, particularly with the maths questions (which become 2nd nature by the end). I could remember so many mass numbers by the end of a level chemistry from doing so many mole calculations.
I'm gonna take the same subjects for a levels! I'm also thinking of doing engineering. What are you interested in more? Your a level choices are great for a lot of careers especially those in STEM but might not be as ideal as choosing biology instead of physics for dentistry, despite still being a good choice for very few universities like Bristol, King College London, and Queen Mary University of London. Choose based on whether you like those subjects, as well as what you plan on doing in the future.

hey im planning on going into engineering and my mum did dentistry so i feel qualified to answer this.

for engineering you need maths and most universities will favour you if you take physics. depending on the unis you plan on applying for some of the top ones also like further maths as this is good preperation however if your skl doesnt offer it they will not disadvantage you and nowhere asks for it.

however if your skl does offer it i would defo consider taking it.

for dentistry, as some of the other replies state, bio and chem would be best as some unis require that you take both. however there are some that dont im pretty sure.

if it's possible i would see if you could start off takinf physics maths chem bio and then stick with the three you like the most. the best combo for eng is maths physics chem. best for dentistry is bio chem maths. so defo take chem maths either way.

so rly its between phys and bio but that kinda decides either way lol.

i would recommend having a look into uni courses you like the sound of. see what youre looking for in a degree. consider that eng is a 3/4 year degree while dentistry is 5 years followed by 1/2 years of supervised practice. consider what makes you more interested by reading books, articles, watching videos around the topics and looking into the specialisations you can go in for dentistry eg orthodontics, paediatric, endodontics and also for eng eg civil, mechanical, chemical

hope this helps! good luck!

If you are invested enough in those subjects, then absolutely.

I took all of those subjects and chemistry was definitely my favourite.

If you want some ideas as to how to go about studying those three subjects: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7253201&page=2#post97549790

I take the exact same subjects and I am about to be year 13. I plan to apply dentistry for the limited amount of unis. Do they give you a disadvantage for taking physics instead of bio or no? Also physics is very hard so its very annoying to have to get minimum A.
