Marketing = how to sell products en masse and finding out what customers want.
If you want a specific defintion for marketing, consider:

As far as I know, there is only one interpretation of the word "marketing" and it's in a business context. I haven't come across the word being used in any other context, and this is affirmed by the other definitions in the link above.
