Warwick - Reading week

Does anyone know if Warwick will have a reading week this year and, if they do, will it apply to maths or is it just some courses ?

Maths and STEM courses in general have never had reading weeks, but for the last few years they've had "breathing week" in week 6 of term, where there are generally no deadlines and (some!) lecturers will temporarily ease off on content pace a bit. They can sometimes be problematic since it can mean later deadlines end up closer together, but it's at least nice to have a chance to catch up a bit without a deadline every few days like the rest of term.

Humanities tend to have proper reading weeks, where they have no lectures and a lot of people go home for the week. Unfortunately we don't get this in maths! (Unless you take humanities courses as unusual options, in which case you might also have those specific module lectures cancelled for that week.)

Like @Interea said, maths does not have a reading week but rather 'breather week'. It really depends on the specific maths modules you take though, some lecturers ignore it entirely whereas others do slow down on the pace and ensure there are no deadlines during that week. Overall the workload doesn't really reduce any meaningful amount though so it can't be relied upon to catch up much.

The 'breather week' never (technically) existed since there is almost no way a Maths student can absorb 12 hours of lecture material per week, so Week 6 is actually (or could be) the time when you realise you don't understand most of the content in earlier weeks and cry, not to forget mentioning that lecturers like Mario Micallef is 'famous' for ignoring that week.
Thx, that’s a shame 😕
