Writing by Dictation (University)

Does anyone use voice-to-text dictation as a key aspect of their writing process — whether that be writing essays specifically, or writing in general?

I have started using it, and have found it extremely useful, especially when compiling notes. I haven't had to to write any assignments or essays as yet. It is faster, meaning I can keep up with my brain, but it does mean that there is more editing to be done (not that that is as important when taking notes for yourself).

If you do use dictation, what is your experience? I'd love to read about it.
