The Student Room Group

Whites only moms and tots playgroup posters draw outrage in Vancouver

Its an interesting one, less so for the theme itself which im sure we can all agree is rather distasteful but for the reaction its generated and the eyebrow raising double standards its evincing.

For those of you that follow the news, i'm sure you're more than aware of the great surge in black/'bipoc' only events from west end shows to graduations and various 'safe spaces' at universities and schools.

Now, make no mistake, none of these are acceptable to normal civilizedeople and are quite clearly explicitly racist in every way.

So, the question, why has this particular one upset people so much whilst the others are to be 'celebrated'? Particularly for young people, the general excuse is 'they're safe places for people who are afraid of Caucasians' (or similar nonsense). Why it is okay for one group to be racist and segregationist but evil for the other - as opposed to both being damned for their bigotry is beyond me.

Anyone know of a halfway decent answer to this? Ideally one that doesnt involve the specious rubbish of 'balances of power'?
Feel free to share your thoughts though, is this somehow okay, is none of it or should we take it a step further and encourage all groups to balkanise for their own 'protection' and 'safety'?
Or, are all of the groups participating in this racist drivel simply utter crack pots?

Has there really been a genuine surge in black only spaces?

Or does the media merely amplify isolated examples because it knows people love being outraged by such stories?

My very strong suspicion would be that these are fake posters put up by activists trying to push a race baiting agenda. There is nothing whatsoever to be gained from a "whites only" parenting group and nobody would go to one. This is Canada, after all - where lets not forget dozens of churches were burned to the ground over a completely made up Indigenous Genocide hoax. This is Canada, where the ultimate soyboy race baiter is Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who constantly berates anyone who doesn't agree with him as being a racist - but who invited an actual Nazi into the Canadian Parliament and led a standing ovation for him. Not a modern "Nazi" - as in anyone who you don't like - but an actual World War II Nazi.

These things come along all the time. They make a big splash to give the appearance of racial discord - then they are eventually disproven, but it doesn't matter, the damage was done. Yet again, demand for racism exceeds supply.

Although I agree that there is a lot of discourse based on generating racial tension and inflammatory discussion, to say that racism is at a lower level than people assume or 'want' to exist, this can be misleading as ethnic discrimination may not be as overt as what that flyer's message conveyed, but there is still certainly a high level of covert (or hidden racism) that affects many ethnic minorities. There are still problems that persist in Canada as well as the UK and racist sentiment still permeates conversations today.
Imagine trying to get away with thst, 😂. Bloody heck
