I absolutely doubt that! At least it doesn't affect you at Swansea Uni.
I'm studying a pure Economics course as well but I mentioned and emphasised the fact that I love maths in my personal statement. It didn't reduce my chances of getting in. If anything, it helped, because in the long run, economics is all about series of mathematical equations and analysis.
