I have just heard that the government are getting rid of over 200 BTEC qualifications in august of next year i’m a year 12 student who just started BTEC media what does this mean for me ?

You will be able to complete your qualification. The BTECs are being scrapped for new students. Existing students will continue to study BTECS and students starting year 12 in 2024/2025 can study T Levels or an alternative Level 3 qualification instead.
