Good question! The most necessary work experience you need is shadowing a general dentist, preferably NHS over private but a mix of the two is good as you could talk about the differences in an interview. Some dental schools recommend two weeks overall, but don't worry if you can't manage to get that, a week of shadowing is good enough, provided that you've learned enough.
