DNA mcq

Please could someone help me with this question?

IN a genetic engineering experiment apiece of double stranded dna containing 6000 nucleotides coding door a specific polypeptide is transcribed and translated. What is the total number of amino acids in the polypeptide? A; 500 b: 1000 c: 2000 d:3000
I thought the answer is c because 6000/3 however it is B? Thanks!

In a double stranded dna there are 6000 nucleotides but only one strand undergoes translation so 3000 nucleotides—- 3000/3 =1000 amino acids
