Biology a level question - Homeostasis

What is the mechanism for the level of insulin decreasing following a rise in insulin as a result of hyperglycemia?

Thanks

I think that its similar to that of muscle contraction in the sense that the Ca2+ ions are actively transported out of the cells, therefore preventing any more vesicles containing insulin fusing with the membrane and releasing insulin by exocytosis
