I'm so lost here. Idek where to start
Oliver is driving from his home in Aber (A) to his friend’s house in Clanston (C). The road he is travelling on has been closed for road works at the village of Bankfoot (B). He has the option of completing his journey by diverting either through Dunsford (D) or Eccles (E) as shown in the diagram. Which route would be the shortest and how much shorter would it be?

If the two horizontal(?) line segments are part of the same horizontal line, then you could use the cos rule to get the missing part (base of the upper triangle). Then use the sin rule (twice) on the lower triangle to get the two missing distances.

If the horizontal assumption isn't correct, it doesn't look solvable?
