PGDE Primary and Secondary Modern Studies

Hi,
I am planning to apply for PGDE Primary and Secondary Modern Studies, however I am worried about the probability of getting a full time position after NQT year as I previously left a MSc in another field for lack of job opportunities and I have been hearing people saying that they have had to become cover teachers ect for a few years before gaining a permanent position. I was hoping people could share their expirence of looking for jobs after NQT year for both Primary and Secondary Modern Studies. Also I’m worried that if I do Secondary Modern Studies I am going to be limited in jobs as not all schools teach it.
