What’s better when wanting to work as a teacher in the Middle East?

I have found a TFEL level 5 diploma course and a PDGE but I don’t know what’s better… I want to become a teacher in the Middle East.

Go with the PGCE/PGDE in the subject that you want to teach at the level that you want to teach at.

A TEFL certificate/diploma would only allow you to teach English as a foreign language. From what is said by teachers who taught in rich Middle Eastern countries, they prefer their candidates to have a PGCE with a lot of teaching experience.

Having said that, there is nothing stopping you from doing the TEFL qualication after your PGCE (or even during your PGCE, but it's a juggle between the 2). The TEFL qualification wouldn't be that expensive (roughly £1000 online or £1500 offline) either and you can often take it at any time you want.
