How to revise for exams

Hiya,
I am a year 13 student and have just recently sat my mocks. My issue is that I did really bad on the mocks. For my a-levels I do Business, Design technology amd health and social care. I know that just reading from a textbook and then making notes doesn't work for. I'd really appreciate some advice.
