Brighton or Sussex ( psych)

Hi! I’m considering either Brighton or Sussex for psychology and sociology ba or psychology bsc respective. I’m wondering really if there’s any key differences as I know the area is pretty much going to be similar because they’re close by and I guess you can socialise between unis if you want to?
And if anybody has any experience particularly on either course? I think I’d prefer more contact time and good placement/internship opportunities but can’t really work out which is best for that. Future plans don’t include a lot 😂 I’m thinking of going down a research route or maybe training in a psychotherapy in an art form but not entirely sure.
For context I did a UAL level 3 extended diploma so I won’t get in any of the top top unis even with 168 ucas points (eye roll) so am quite limited with options

Not studying psychology but a masters student at Sussex, they have tons of psychology placements on the careers site at Sussex so you will have a wide selection of placements at least. Generally it's a really nice uni and you can get into a psych with foundation for sussex if you are worried about grades. Also we do socialise accross unis because Brighton does not have as many or as big societies as we do, the student unions have an agreement that Brighton students can join Sussex societies. Also they have plenty of placements in both therapy orientated and research orientated (only know that because of how frustrating it is how psych orientated they are which in your case it's great but for me not so much lol). Hope this helps a little and best of luck!

Thank you so much! What is the area like ? Some people have said to me it’s not a lively uni but I don’t really know what they mean by that because Brighton seems like a good vibe and there’s only so much liveliness a lecture can have 😂

Brighton as an area is super lively, I have been living near the centre and it's been really fun. The beach is lovely and gets very busy, good clubs I enjoyed Chalk recently and there's plenty going on. Sussex is livelier than Brighton, they have more variety regarding student union activities, clubs and societies and they do a lot of one off events. Sussex student union's pubs are great, well priced compared to other local pubs, good food and quite a few events.
