Wolverhampton MSc psychology mental health and well-being (online)

Hey! I received my unconditional offer for past-time masters psychology mental health and well-being at the university of Wolverhampton. I’ve heard very mixed reviews on the programme of study and wondered if anyone else has already studied or possibly starting September 2023? It would be nice to get in touch with some people.

I spoke to an advisor and the modules etc sounds great! Plus it’s BPS accredited. I’m looking at progressing on to do my PhD in educational psychology.

Thanks in advance x

Have you enrolled onto this course yet? It looks ideal for me but some reviews of Wolverhampton online masters courses are so damning that I’m reluctant to sign up for it

I haven’t accepted the offer yet, I’m also reluctant. I’m also nervous transferring from on-campus to an online course! But so far all the staff I’ve spoken with from the university have sounded very professional and the course sounds a dream! Are you looking at signing up sep 23?
Yes I am on the brink of signing on for the course. I expect that there won’t be much support or guidance from the reviews I’ve read, but as long as we have full access to their learner library, which I think we will have, then I’m happy for self-directed study. There’s one at Northumbria uni that seems like it might be a better student experience but the modules in this course are more relevant and interesting to me. I’m on the brink of signing up for it.

I’ve also been looking at St Mary’s London university and Northumbria. They have both have very high ranking nationally and globally. But they’re far more expensive that the likes of Wolverhampton. I’ve also had a call back at my request from Arden university. Where are you hoping this course takes you? I think the modules at Northumbria look appealing and of interest.
I’m a trainer in a health and social care company, specialising in mental health. I just want to learn more about it, and do a good piece of research on the impact of compassion fatigue.
How about you? What are you planning on using for?

Aw amazing!! that sounds great, I currently teach in an independant school for learners with Social Emotional and mental health needs. I'm hoping to do my Masters to progress and hopefully do educational psychology as a doctorate
That sounds great. Good luck with it. Let me know if you enrol onto this one.

Hi Ben! It seems you're already a month into your MSc. I'm interested in joining the September intake, but I'm also a bit reluctant due to the lack of information online. Like you, I'm happy to do self-directed study, but I'm also concerned about the lack of student support since there won't even be any synchronous engagement between the professors and the students. Would you be able to share your experience in the programme thus far? Thank you Ben.

Regards,

Teej
Hi Teej, I’ve enrolled to start 5th September. In the meanwhile I’ve been doing an orientation programme they’ve put on canvas for me. It all looks quite well run and student support have got back to me quickly about enquiries on logins and fees etc. It all seems good actually but I’ve not actually started the course yet so can’t comment on that.
However, if there’s a few of us starting in September, maybe we can be a good support to each other regardless of what support there is from uni staff. There seems to be quite a lot of good peer support on the forums.
Thanks
Ben

Hi Ben, I'm starting on Sept 5th and working my way through the orientation package too! I'm also pretty happy with how everything have been so far, but abit nervous about some of the reviews in terms of lack of support. Im very happy to be apart of peer support though. I'm doing full time, starting with cyberpsychology and Mental Health Online.
Ok let’s hope it’s a good experience for us both. I’m doing part time, I think I’m starting with cyber psychology. Hopefully will speak on a forum on the course.

Hi Ben, it's great to hear from another applicant. I'm also set up to start on the 5th of September, and I will aim to take Cyberpsychology and Mental Health Online with you and Sara202. Thanks for sharing your thoughts so far. I agree that it would be good to support each other as we don't seem to really have a "cohort". What would be the best way for us to keep in touch outside of The Student Room? Cheers!
I'm fairly sure that we can find each other and message each other within the canvas global system and then that just appears in your inbox. Failing that, the uni e-mail address I've been given is [email protected]
I am also starting the course on the 5th of September. I am kind of nervous but still excited nevertheless.
hey students! I also applied for this course, starting now in October, what is your experience so far? how is the course thought? live zoom lectures? looking forward to hear from you!
I’m really enjoying it so far, half way through second week. There are no live webinars, it’s a combination of pre-recorded micro lectures, discussion forums, reading lists and activities. It’s very well structured with regular engagement and support where needed. The materials are all here and the subject and assessment questions are interesting.

Hi Ben,
I’m thinking of applying to this course in the next few months but I’m concerned about the lack of support for students and the intensity of it all. It sounds too good to be true on the website and the reviews have been mixed but yours has reassured me!!
That's is awesome Ben! I am about to accept the offer so maybe we will be buddies in this master! I just need to know if I can become a psychologist with this master in New Zealand, as I currently live here. Did you got any prospects for the future with this master?
All the best
