Why is it that some teachers let me have my way in school?

I'm done with school but like I just wondered why some teachers let me get my way in school. I wanted to go from set 5 to set 6 in science and go from higher to foundation and go from doing double science to single science all because a girl who was cyber bullying me online came from set 2 to set 5 in my class and she would sit next to me. I would have passed science if I had done higher and stayed in set 5, but then there's some teachers like maths (who I am glad didn't let me go down) kept me in set 2 as I can do the hard stuff so higher tier is right for me. In the end I am glad I did do single science in a way as I was so bad in science and made progress in set 5. I think in the end higher may not be right despite me passing previously and foundation tier was the right thing for me.
