SRA character and suitability

Hi all,

I had an academic misconduct issue and applied for early character suitability. I passed the test.

But I had a TC at a large firm and I disclosed to them this issue at the offer letter stage and said I would be applying for the SRA character and suitability test. They didnt say anything but rescinded my offer 5 months later and did not even wait for SRA's decision. They said it was because I should have disclosed it at the application form stage.

I am in a very strange situatioon now because I am back to square one and have saught advice from grad rec elsewhere and they have said regardless of me clearing SRA's test, my past will be an issue for law firms especially MC firms where they rather have someone with a clean past. I had other offers and I do not know how to go back to them or how to apply to law firms. Mentioning this in my application form can be automatic grounds for refusing to consider me.

Any advice would be appreciated.
