Michaela or Brampton Manor???

I have an offer for Michaela and an interview for Brampton. Michaela’s class sizes are extremely small and I’ve had a visit there, the school is strict but it’s manageable and I like the teaching style. I’ve heard some bad things about Brampton like how it’s extremely populated and that there’s a lack of support however their results speak for themselves…. Which one do you think is best? And if you go there what’s your opinion/experience. I’m doing English Lit, Econ, History and Politics for context.

Hey! My predicted grades are:

English Lit- 9
English Lang- 9
History- 9
Business- 9
RE- 8
Maths- 7
Science- 7,7
French- 7

edit: forgot extracurriculars😅

I used to be apart of a debate club but I've stopped since year 11 is a demanding year and I don't really have the time for that.

I’ve also been coding which isn’t really related to my subjects for around 5 years.

However Brampton isn’t really concerned about extracurriculars and care more about your education. I'll be doing internships at different law firms and investment banking companies over the summer

I would just go to the one that you personally prefer (assuming that the commuting time is roughly the same for both).

But that’s just me personally.

also, because brampton’s a more science and maths school, are there still a lot of people who want to do humanities- are there still lots of resources and opportunities??

I would say you should apply to the London Academy Of Excellence or Newham Collegiate because they seem to offer more support for students that do more humanity/essay subjects.

Just aim for all 9s and you should be fine, that’s what I’m doing! Or ideally get 9s in what you’ll be studying at A Levels and make sure you know what you want to do at uni or as a career because they care about that

I'm a student at Michaela who is joining the schools sixthforrm this September. I'd honestly recommend you to choose mcs sixth esp because of the small class sizes ect which uve mentioned above. The sixthform isnt as strict as the lower school which is whats encouraged me to stay here and plus the teachers are really friendly and all of them have attended russell grp unis so they know what theyre doing when it comes to russell grp uni applications ect.. The skl also runs smth called the OXLAM track for students applying to oxbridge and puplis choosing the most competitive uni courses eg law and medicine ect which is helpful. The skl provides alot of support for the students by running clinics ect. At the end of the day both Brampton and MCS help their students achieve amazing a-level grades so going to either one would be great.

Yes there are. There's lots of work with top investment banks and they have their own exclusive programs with banks and top magic circle law firms. I currently do Eng lit, history, politics and french (going into yr13 in september) so i'm fully humanities and there's a lot of opportunities for me. They have a massive portal where they post hundreds of work experience opportunites of all times that we can apply to. They are always finding and adding new one every day, even in the holidays. Also idk why people keep lying to you guys that there's no support, Brampton has the most supportive teachers ever. Your teachers literally become your best friends in the sense that whatever you need, you can go and ask them. There is always someone to help you, give you advice or just listen to you rant about whatever you want. When it comes to things like applications, we have an amazing access team who help oversee every step of the process with you to help you do the best you can. They don't only help with academics as well, they help us write CVs, prep for work experience interviews, etc and our teachers are from many Russell group unis, including most if not all the unis we apply to, so they can gave one on one advice, read personal statements, help with admissions tests and interviews as well.

My main advice is something that someone else in the thread already said, which is to pick the one closest to you and/or suits your plans. I applied to Brampton and NCS, I got into both and technically NCS is like 10 mins closer to me but I knew I would get more humanities support at Brampton, considering my subjects.

Good luck for yr12!
